Unconference sections

A grid of tracks and time slots that attendees claim on the day to give their own talks.

For Organizers
Scrolling an unconference grid of three tracks, then opening Edit section to see its talk length and tracks.

What attendees see

An unconference section is a grid. Each column is a track, like a room or a theme, and each row is a time slot. Empty slots say Open slot, and anyone attending can claim one to give a talk.

The schedule fills in through the day as people claim slots, which is what makes it an unconference.

Set one up

  1. Choose Add a section and pick Unconference.
  2. Set the section's start and end times.
  3. Choose a talk length. The section is filled with slots that long.
  4. If the day has no tracks yet, add them. Each one becomes a column.
  5. Choose Create section.

Tracks and talk length

Edit the section to change its talk length or its tracks. Saving rebuilds the slots to fill the section's time with the new length.

Tracks belong to the day, so every grid section on that day shares the same columns. Turn on Apply these tracks to all unconference days to keep every day's tracks in step.

Changing the talk length rebuilds the slots, so do it before people start claiming them.

Inviting a speaker

In Prepare, an open slot has Invite speaker. It makes a link you can send to someone so they can claim that exact slot.
